Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to engage a specialized consultant to provide comprehensive linguistic interpretation and audiovisual equipment logistics for the 'Education for Violent Pasts' event hosted by the UNESCO Office in Guatemala. This event includes a four-day workshop for 45 participants and two guided museum visits. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring seamless communication and technical support throughout these activities, facilitating effective knowledge exchange and engagement among attendees.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for providing simultaneous interpretation between English and Spanish during all workshop sessions over four days for 45 participants. This includes the provision and technical management of a complete simultaneous interpretation equipment set, comprising 45 receivers with headphones, a transmitter for the interpreter, and a microphone. The consultant must conduct sound tests and prior installation before the event commences and manage the distribution, control, and collection of audio equipment among participants. Additionally, the consultant will provide accompanying/consecutive interpretation services during two field trips and visits, facilitating interaction between venue guides and the delegation.
Work Experience
Requires at least 20 years of experience as a Certified Sworn Interpreter and Translator (English-Spanish). Proven experience in interpretation for international cooperation or public sector events is essential, along with demonstrated experience coordinating interpretation teams for groups exceeding 40 people.
