Job Purpose
This internship within UNESCO's Sciences Sector offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in project design, planning, implementation, and policy development within an international and multicultural environment. The intern will support the Sector's overall work by participating in the preparation and review of project documents, technical reports, and policy briefs. Responsibilities include conducting research, analyzing data, supporting communication activities, and assisting with administrative and logistical tasks for workshops and meetings. The role aims to develop domain knowledge across scientific, technological, environmental, ethical, and social policy fields, while strengthening analytical, research, writing, and communication skills.
Responsibilities
The intern will actively support the Sciences Sector's operations by participating in the preparation and review of project documents, technical reports, policy briefs, and analytical papers. Key duties include drafting briefing notes, background documents, and progress reports. The role involves conducting research, collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data to support evidence-based policy development. Additionally, the intern will assist with communication and visibility activities, including website updates and the creation of communication materials. Analyzing partnership and fundraising opportunities, supporting coordination meetings, and providing administrative and logistical support for events are also integral parts of the role. Contributing to interdisciplinary initiatives and performing other programme-related tasks as assigned are expected.
