Job Purpose
This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to and learn from UNESCO's Social and Human Sciences Sector (SHS). The intern will support the sector's mission, which includes enhancing efforts against violence, racism, and discrimination, challenging gender stereotypes, leveraging sports for social inclusion, and promoting intercultural dialogue. The role also involves supporting youth, women, and individuals with disabilities. A key focus is fostering inclusive societies and ensuring the ethical advancement of new technologies like Artificial Intelligence, in accordance with UNESCO's guidelines. The intern will gain practical experience in developing and managing projects within the Social and Human Sciences domain, understanding multilateral processes, and contributing to global policy-making.
Responsibilities
The intern will gain practical experience in developing and managing Social and Human Sciences projects, understanding multilateral processes, and contributing to global policy-making. Responsibilities include supporting evidence-based policymaking through programs like the Management Of Social Transformations Programme, fostering inclusive dialogue, and building trust in governance. The intern may also contribute to initiatives promoting integrity in sport, safeguarding ethics and values through international conventions, and supporting inclusive and equitable sport systems via advocacy and research. Additionally, the role involves strengthening ethical governance of science and technology, ensuring responsible use of emerging technologies, and enhancing inclusion and intercultural dialogue by combating discrimination and promoting social cohesion. Youth engagement through research and policy innovation is also a key area of support.
Work Experience
No specific prior work experience is mandated for this internship. However, candidates are expected to possess excellent computer skills, proficiency in office-related software, and strong interpersonal and communication abilities. The capacity to work effectively within a team and adapt to an international environment is also essential.
Skills
Proficiency in English or French is required, with working knowledge of the other language being an asset. Excellent computer skills and familiarity with office software are necessary.
