Job Purpose
The intern will provide essential support to the Governing Bodies Secretariat team, contributing to the smooth operation of UNESCO's governance mechanisms. Key responsibilities include assisting with working meetings, preparing reports and briefings, and conducting research on relevant subjects. The intern will also support the preparation of sessions of the Executive Board and the General Conference, assisting with documentation, archiving, and logistical arrangements. This role involves contributing to the daily activities of the Secretariat, ensuring efficient conduct of meetings and overall organizational functions. The internship aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of United Nations governance, UNESCO's operational framework, and international issues within the Organization's mandate, fostering professional development in a multicultural environment.
Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and follow-up of working meetings, contributing to reporting and briefing materials. Provide support for the elaboration of reports related to UNESCO information meetings. Conduct research on topics relevant to the Governing Bodies Secretariat and draft analytical or summary notes. Monitor international news and report significant developments to the supervisor. Support the design and follow-up of forthcoming sessions of the Executive Board and General Conference, including debriefings, document management, and recording decisions. Participate in the archiving and classification of statutory documents. Assist in the logistical, organizational, informative, functional, and conceptual preparations for sessions of the Executive Board and General Conference to ensure their smooth running. Contribute to other tasks supporting the general conduct and smooth functioning of meetings for the Secretariat of Governing Bodies, including preparatory groups and working groups. Engage in the day-to-day activities of the Executive Board Secretariat.
Work Experience
No specific prior work experience is mandated for this internship. However, candidates are expected to possess strong computer skills and proficiency in office-related software. The internship is designed to provide practical experience and learning opportunities within the Governing Bodies Secretariat.
Skills
Excellent command of English or French, both written and spoken. Working knowledge of the other language is an asset. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in office-related software.
