Organizational Context
The Division for Communications and Public Engagement, reporting to the Office of the Director-General, is responsible for implementing UNESCO's communication strategy. The team coordinates and delivers external and internal communications to support various sectors and Field Offices. This involves creating content for the organization's website, managing press relations, engaging on social media, organizing public events, and developing media partnerships and publications.
Job Purpose
This internship offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to the Division for Communications and Public Engagement's projects, enhancing the visibility of UNESCO's activities across diverse digital and traditional platforms. Interns will gain practical experience in various communication domains, including social media management, web content creation and maintenance, press relations support, photo and video production, publishing, branding initiatives, and event organization. The role is designed to provide hands-on learning in applying communication techniques, project management, and developing interpersonal skills within a multicultural environment.
Responsibilities
Interns will actively support communication campaigns and social media efforts, including drafting, translating, and editing content, and assisting with graphic design for digital platforms. Responsibilities extend to filming and post-production for interviews, creating newsletters, and managing social media schedules and analytics. In web-related tasks, interns will help create new websites, translate and edit content, draft documentation, upload content to management tools, and perform SEO analysis. Support for press activities includes translating press releases, preparing briefings, and updating media lists. Additional tasks involve photo cataloging, assisting with publication projects, photo research, and contributing to brand promotion. Interns may also support the organization of conferences and develop communication strategies for specific initiatives like UNESCO Campuses and the UNESCO Courier magazine.

No specific prior work experience is required for this internship. However, candidates should possess excellent computer skills and proficiency in office-related software. The ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to an international environment is essential.
Skills
Essential skills include strong interpersonal and communication abilities, excellent writing skills, creativity, and attention to detail. Proficiency in graphic design software like Photoshop and familiarity with content management systems such as Drupal are highly desirable. A working knowledge of English or French is required, with excellent command of at least one.
