Job Purpose

This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn and contribute to the mission of UNESCO's Communication and Information Sector. Interns will gain practical experience in programme and project support, research and knowledge management, partnership development, and operations support. Activities will be tailored to the intern's learning objectives and the sector's needs, providing exposure to project document preparation, data analysis, research reviews, and the development of communication products. The role also involves supporting partnership initiatives and providing logistical assistance for events, offering a comprehensive understanding of international project management and global policy-making within the communication and information field.

Responsibilities

Interns will support the Communication and Information Sector's mission through various tasks, including programme and project support. This involves participating in the preparation and review of project documents, drafting notes, and preparing technical annexes. Interns will also assist in developing conceptual frameworks and concept notes for new work areas or development challenges, collecting and analyzing data, and contributing to the production of working papers. In research and knowledge management, interns will undertake specific research to produce well-defined work products, contribute to knowledge and communication materials for advocacy, and participate in relevant meetings and seminars. Partnership support includes analyzing background data for potential collaborations, arranging briefings, and liaising with national administrations and international organizations. Operational support involves assisting in the planning and organization of meetings, events, and workshops, and supporting the preparation of budgets and project documentation.

Work Experience

No specific prior work experience is mandated for this internship. However, candidates are expected to possess strong computer skills, including proficiency with office-related software. The internship is designed to provide hands-on experience and learning opportunities within the Communication and Information Sector, focusing on project support, research, and operational tasks.
