Stagiaire - Infrastructure numérique et architecture des systèmes
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) operates in approximately 170 countries, focusing on poverty eradication, reducing inequality, and fostering resilience. In Côte d'Ivoire, the UNDP country office is initiating its 2026-2030 programming cycle, emphasizing digital transformation and robust digital infrastructure as key enablers for achieving Sustainable Development Goals. This role supports national counterparts and the country office's internal digital systems.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide students with practical experience in digital infrastructure and systems architecture within the UN system. The intern will contribute to the modernization of national digital public infrastructure and internal country office systems, supporting Côte d'Ivoire's digital transformation agenda. The role involves assisting in the design, evaluation, and implementation of digital solutions, enhancing interoperability, and ensuring cybersecurity. This opportunity allows students to enrich their academic training, gain exposure to an international work environment, and deepen their understanding of UNDP's mission and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the evaluation, architectural design, and implementation of national digital infrastructures and ministerial systems, including health information systems and e-government portals. Responsibilities include conducting technical diagnostics of existing IT and telecom infrastructures, identifying interoperability bottlenecks, and supporting the drafting of technical specifications and terms of reference. The role also involves contributing to the definition of interoperability frameworks, API standards, and secure data exchange protocols, integrating security-by-design principles, and supporting the technical monitoring of software developers and system integrators. Additionally, the intern will assist in mapping, documenting, and optimizing internal country office digital tools and enterprise systems, and contribute to technical note preparation for digital infrastructure projects.
Work Experience
No specific work experience is explicitly required for this internship. However, a strong understanding of information system architecture, software engineering, cloud environments, databases, and network fundamentals is necessary. Practical knowledge of system interoperability standards, APIs, agile project management, and technical specification writing is highly desirable.
Skills
Strong understanding of information system architecture, software engineering, cloud/on-premise hosting, databases, and network fundamentals. Practical knowledge of system interoperability standards, APIs (REST/SOAP), microservices, and enterprise architecture modeling. Familiarity with Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) concepts and open-source digital public goods. Understanding of cybersecurity, data protection, and resilient infrastructure design. Knowledge of SDLC, DevOps basics, agile project management, and technical specification writing. Interest in emerging infrastructure technologies (e.g., blockchain, IoT). Excellent French proficiency (written and spoken) and good working knowledge of English (technical English) are required.
