Organizational Context

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global organization dedicated to sustainable development, operating in 170 countries. The Office of Human Resources (BMS/OHR) serves as the central hub for HR functions, with the People Performance Unit (PPU) focused on creating a positive employee experience and a safe, respectful work environment. This internship is within the PPU, supporting initiatives to enhance employee engagement and productivity.

Job Purpose

This internship aims to support the UNDP's People Performance Unit in enhancing the accessibility and user-friendliness of employee-facing resources related to a respectful workplace. The intern will gain practical experience in content review, digital accessibility principles, and content management. A key focus will be on improving the 'Speak Up Culture' program materials and other inclusion-related resources, ensuring they are easily accessible and inclusive for all personnel. The role contributes to fostering a positive and productive work environment by making essential HR information readily available and understandable across various platforms.

Responsibilities

The intern will be responsible for reviewing and editing content for accessibility, ensuring materials like 'Speak Up Culture' session resources, videos, and equal opportunity documents meet standards such as WCAG and are user-oriented. This includes supporting new resources and ad-hoc presentations. Additionally, the role involves coordinating translations of guides, handouts, and video scripts, re-designing translated materials using tools like Canva and Synthesia, and managing translation timelines. The intern will also create visual assets and infographics for internal communications, draft posts for platforms like Viva Engage and Teams to promote initiatives, and update SharePoint pages for content accuracy and accessibility. Flexible support for urgent communication tasks is also expected.

Work Experience

Prior work experience is not required for this internship. However, experience with translation, translation coordination, and digital accessibility is desired. Experience in project coordination would be considered a distinct advantage.

Skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to coordinate and manage translation workflows. Organizational and project coordination skills. Basic understanding of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and a willingness to learn. Attention to detail and cultural sensitivity. Design and media skills, including proficiency with tools like Canva or Adobe InDesign, and basic video editing capabilities.
