Job Purpose
This internship supports the Rome Centre's communications efforts, contributing to its mission of advancing sustainable development and climate action. The role involves assisting in content creation, digital communications, social media management, event support, and website updates. The intern will help disseminate information about the Centre's programs, such as youth engagement in climate action, energy for development, and climate finance initiatives. By managing content across various platforms and supporting communication strategies, the intern plays a vital role in enhancing the Centre's outreach and impact in mobilizing resources and partnerships for global development goals.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the Communications Lead in various communication activities. Key responsibilities include developing and editing content such as web stories, social media posts, and newsletters; preparing key messages and visual content for programs and events; and maintaining the media asset library. The role also involves managing social media channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, X), tracking content performance, scheduling posts, and monitoring engagement. Additionally, the intern will assist with event communications, including preparing packages and gathering content during events, and support website updates by drafting, formatting, and publishing content on undp.org. Research for campaigns and contributing creative content ideas are also part of the duties.
Work Experience
A strong understanding of digital media and how content performs across major platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, short-form video) is required. Proficiency with social media tools, content management systems, and basic analytics dashboards is necessary. Experience with design tools like Canva, CapCut, or Adobe Creative Suite is an asset. An interest in climate action, energy transition, and sustainable development, along with knowledge of the UN system, is beneficial. A portfolio of relevant work is mandatory for consideration.
