Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) China Country Office supports China's development by integrating SDGs, promoting sustainable economies, and fostering international cooperation. The Greater Tumen Initiative (GTI), supported by UNDP, is an intergovernmental cooperation mechanism in Northeast Asia involving China, Republic of Korea, Mongolia, and the Russian Federation, focused on economic development and regional stability.
Job Purpose
This internship offers a comprehensive understanding of the Greater Tumen Initiative's (GTI) intergovernmental cooperation processes, institutional framework, and project activities within a multicultural setting. The intern will support the GTI Secretariat by assisting staff in project management, organizing intergovernmental meetings and forums, and contributing to promotional activities. This role is crucial for facilitating regional economic cooperation, policy dialogue, and strengthening the business environment in Northeast Asia, ultimately contributing to improved living standards through infrastructure development, trade, and investment promotion.
Responsibilities
The intern will report to the Finance and Admin Associate of the GTI Secretariat. Key responsibilities include coordinating and assisting in the preparation and organization of GTI events and activities, such as annual meetings and project workshops. This involves managing logistical arrangements like participant travel, accommodation, and venue coordination, as well as communicating with suppliers and participants. Additionally, the intern will support research efforts by compiling materials and assisting in report preparation, and provide administrative support for staff travel and office procurement. The role also requires performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Work Experience
Experience in event organization or program assistance, particularly with international organizations, is preferred. Experience in organizing international meetings and events, as well as in preparing research reports, would be advantageous for this role.
Skills
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and AI tools. Strong communication and drafting skills in English are essential. Proficiency in Chinese is an asset. Ability to perform in a multicultural environment, effective teamwork, excellent interpersonal skills, and being highly self-motivated and detail-oriented are also important.
