The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) China Country Office supports China's development goals and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Greater Tumen Initiative (GTI), supported by UNDP, is an intergovernmental cooperation mechanism in Northeast Asia involving China, the Republic of Korea, Mongolia, and the Russian Federation. GTI aims to foster economic cooperation, peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region.
Job Purpose
This IT Intern position within the Greater Tumen Initiative (GTI) Secretariat, supported by UNDP China, focuses on enhancing the organization's online presence. The intern will primarily be responsible for upgrading and maintaining the GTI official website, ensuring it effectively showcases the initiative's activities, publications, and news. This role contributes to improving GTI's communication and visibility within Northeast Asia and globally. The internship offers a practical understanding of intergovernmental cooperation, institutional frameworks, and project activities in a multicultural international setting, providing hands-on experience in web development, content management, and administrative support.
Responsibilities
The IT Intern will primarily upgrade and maintain the GTI official website using WordPress, including building and configuring an English-language content management system. Responsibilities include developing a clean, professional, and user-friendly website interface, ensuring responsiveness and accessibility, and uploading, formatting, and organizing content. The intern will also test website functionality, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide basic training to staff on content management. Additionally, the role may involve providing logistical and administrative support for meetings and events, assisting with new media management such as drafting social media posts and editing videos, and performing other related duties as assigned.
Work Experience
Demonstrated experience in building or maintaining websites using WordPress is required. Familiarity with WordPress themes, plugins, and basic configuration is necessary. Working knowledge of HTML and CSS is needed for theme customization. Experience with graphic design tools, SEO, web analytics, and multilingual WordPress setups is desirable.
