Organizational Context

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Algeria supports the country's efforts to strengthen institutional capacities for labor market needs, promote decent work for women and youth, and foster sustainable sectors. This role supports a project focused on the social and solidarity economy (SSE) to enhance economic inclusion for young entrepreneurs, particularly women, through business creation and development.

Job Purpose

The Field Monitoring Assistant will support the implementation of operations within a specific wilaya for the project "The Social and Solidarity Economy for Sustainable Economic Inclusion of Young Entrepreneurs in Algeria." This role involves close collaboration with the Inclusive Economic Growth team, UNDP Country Office Operations, and local stakeholders. The primary objective is to ensure the smooth execution of project activities, contributing to the development of the SSE ecosystem, the creation of decent jobs, and the promotion of entrepreneurship, aligning with UNDP's rules and standards.

Responsibilities

The Field Monitoring Assistant is responsible for supporting procurement and administrative tasks within the designated wilaya. This includes prospecting suppliers, assisting with budget preparation for procurement activities, and developing/updating supplier lists. The role also involves ensuring payment files are complete and compliant with UNDP regulations, and managing project-related documents and data. Additionally, the assistant will provide logistical and communication support for project activities such as workshops and training, coordinate field visits, and assist in preparing project correspondence and reports. A key responsibility is liaising with local media to promote project activities and achievements, contributing to the monitoring and analysis of project initiatives, and maintaining a database of SSE initiative holders.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in logistics, procurement, and contracting is required for candidates with a secondary school diploma. For those with a Bachelor's degree, at least 2 years of relevant experience is needed. A strong understanding of the Algerian context and regulations is mandatory. Experience with IT tools and automated procurement systems is also beneficial.
