Job Purpose
The Security Guard is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment within the UN House premises, protecting staff, visitors, and assets. This role involves providing surveillance, controlling access, conducting patrols, and responding to emergencies. The Security Guard promotes a client-oriented, quality-focused, and results-driven approach, operating on a 24/7 basis through rotating shifts. The position supports the overall mission of UNDP by maintaining order and security, ensuring compliance with procedures, and contributing to a safe working environment for all.
Responsibilities
The Security Guard's primary duties include supporting access control for personnel and vehicles, ensuring proper identification, screening, and direction, and preventing unauthorized access. This involves using screening equipment and maintaining logs for access and equipment removal. The role also entails conducting regular patrols of the UN House, including internal and external areas, and performing physical security checks to ensure compound and office security. Monitoring and reporting on the condition of security equipment and infrastructure is also key. Additionally, the Security Guard will operate and monitor the security control center, including emergency lines, public address, video surveillance, and alarm systems. They will act as a response officer during emergencies, implementing established procedures and utilizing firefighting equipment if necessary. Other duties include maintaining peace and order, managing logbooks, providing event security support, and participating in mandatory training.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of experience in the security field is required. Experience in access control, video surveillance, patrolling, and asset protection is essential. Proficiency in security reporting, record-keeping, and maintaining logbooks is necessary. Experience with Windows and MS Office applications is also required. Experience in emergency response and providing security for international organizations is desirable.
