Organizational Context

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Philippines is implementing the Strengthening Institutions and Empowering Localities Against Disasters and Climate Change (SHIELD) Programme, supported by the Government of Australia. This initiative aims to enhance resilience to climate change and natural hazards. The SHIELD Support Unit (SSU) manages programme interventions across three components, working collaboratively with consortium partners, government agencies, and stakeholders.

Job Purpose

This internship focuses on providing crucial programme management support to the SHIELD Programme in the Philippines. The intern will assist the Project Manager and coordinate with the Programme Manager and Knowledge Management Analyst on communications tasks. The role contributes to the effective implementation of project activities, event coordination, and communication efforts. By supporting research, data consolidation, and material development, the intern helps ensure the SHIELD Programme achieves its goal of making communities safer and more resilient to climate and disaster risks. This position offers a valuable learning experience in international development programme management within a UN context.

Responsibilities

Provide direct support to the Project Manager in coordinating with key agency partners and contractors for effective project activity implementation. Offer technical and administrative assistance to other SHIELD staff in delivering project outputs. Conduct research and consolidate data and relevant information to aid in the preparation and finalization of project documents and reports. Participate actively in project management meetings. Support the planning and coordination of project activities, including meetings, workshops, and consultations, by assisting with logistics, scheduling, and material preparation. Coordinate with partner agencies and stakeholders to ensure smooth project activity implementation. Assist in documenting events, preparing highlights, and post-activity reports. Support the Programme Manager and Knowledge Management Analyst in developing and implementing the programme's communications plan and creating communication materials, including managing a communications calendar. Assist in content creation for project-related social media channels. Undertake other ad-hoc activities as requested by the supervisor.

Work Experience
