Organizational Context

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the lead UN agency for international development, working in 170 countries to eradicate poverty and reduce inequality. The Sustainable Finance Hub (SFH) accelerates the UNDP Strategic Plan by mobilizing and deploying finance for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This role supports the Taskforce on Inequality and Social-related Financial Disclosures (TISFD), a global initiative developing a framework for reporting social and inequality-related risks and opportunities.

Job Purpose

The Technical Manager will coordinate the development of the Taskforce on Inequality and Social-related Financial Disclosures (TISFD) framework, ensuring it is technically rigorous and meets market needs. This role involves coordinating research and analysis to underpin the TISFD's deliverables, including an integrated disclosure framework, core global metrics, and guidance for corporates and financial institutions. The position contributes to advancing sustainable finance and addressing social challenges by facilitating the co-creation and implementation of a comprehensive framework for social and inequality-related disclosures, aligning with the overarching mission of the TISFD and UNDP's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the collaborative development of technical deliverables for the TISFD, advising the Technical Director on strategy and timely output delivery. Lead the co-creation process of the framework, engaging stakeholders like the TISFD Alliance, Regional Councils, and Knowledge Partners, and managing public consultations. Maintain strong working relationships with key TISFD stakeholders and represent the Taskforce in relevant forums. Lead research and analysis for TISFD outputs, including the disclosure framework, conceptual foundations, and guidance, potentially leading specific workstreams. Draft TISFD outputs under the Technical Director's supervision, liaising with Knowledge Partners and supervising research staff. Advise on piloting the framework, developing learning modules, and capacity-building resources, ensuring technical outputs reflect diverse contextual issues.

Work Experience

A minimum of 7 years of professional experience (with a Master's degree) or 9 years (with a Bachelor's degree) is required. This experience should be in sustainability, responsible business, ESG investing, sustainable finance, business and human rights, social impact, or social risk management.

Skills

Experience in corporate and/or finance sector sustainability management and/or reporting. Proven research and analysis experience in social impact and risk measurement, and/or business and human rights. Experience developing or reporting to sustainability disclosure frameworks (e.g., TCFD, TNFD, ESRS, GRI, ISSB). Experience with private sector engagement on social issues. Ability to translate technical information for diverse audiences. Project management skills. Negotiation and influence. Systems thinking. Working with evidence and data. Private sector engagement.
