Organizational Context
UNDP, a leading UN agency, operates in 170 countries to eradicate poverty and reduce inequality, guided by its Strategic Plan 2026-2029. The Sustainable Finance Hub (SFH) accelerates SDG financing by mobilizing and aligning finance for national priorities. This role sits within the SFH and the Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (ICPSD), one of UNDP’s Global Policy Centers, which supports governments and the private sector in sustainable development through research and partnerships.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to bolster UNDP's efforts in SDG financing and impact investing, contributing significantly to the organization's mission to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Situated within the UNDP Sustainable Finance Hub (SFH) and the Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (ICPSD), the intern will primarily offer comprehensive research, writing, and editing support for critical issues and knowledge products related to impact investing and SDG financing. A core aspect of the role involves assisting with the publication of related knowledge stories and best practices, ensuring effective dissemination of insights. Furthermore, the intern will actively contribute to the design and implementation of various initiatives, projects, or programmes, supporting their successful execution. The role also encompasses preparing diverse communication materials, including speeches, brochures, success stories, and social media content, to enhance outreach and advocacy. Developing and executing engaging online content and campaigns across social media channels is another key responsibility, alongside providing essential administrative support as needed. This position is crucial for advancing sustainable development at scale through strategic finance.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide comprehensive research, writing, and editing support on critical issues related to impact investing and SDG financing, ensuring the production of high-quality analytical outputs and knowledge products. A significant duty involves actively supporting the publishing of knowledge stories and best practices concerning impact investing and SDG financing, thereby contributing to broader knowledge dissemination and advocacy efforts. The role also requires active contribution to the design and implementation of various initiatives, projects, or programmes, from their initial conceptualization through to successful execution and monitoring. Furthermore, the intern will be responsible for preparing a range of relevant communications materials, including drafting speeches, developing brochures, compiling success stories, and creating engaging social media content, to effectively convey UNDP's work and impact to diverse audiences. Collaboration on the development and execution of engaging online content, such as images, infographics, videos, and blogs, is essential, alongside managing and delivering campaigns across diverse social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Finally, the intern will provide administrative support on an as-needed basis to ensure smooth operational flow and perform other relevant tasks as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
Work Experience
Required experience includes academic writing, research, and analysis on sustainable development and impact investing. Desirable experience includes knowledge of SDG Finance and Private Sector Development, familiarity with OIC countries, computer literacy in standard software, a keen interest in the UN and UNDP, ability to interact with diverse cultural backgrounds, previous economics and finance research, project design and implementation, and social media account management and content development skills.
