Job Purpose
The Assistant Technical Clerk for Air Conditioning is responsible for the proper functioning, routine maintenance, and continuous monitoring of the air conditioning, ventilation, and air treatment systems within the UN House in Bamako. Given Bamako's climate, maintaining these systems is crucial for a productive work environment and for protecting critical server and communication equipment. This role ensures the operational readiness of split units, VRF systems, air handling units, and technical room ventilation, directly contributing to the efficiency and functionality of UN operations.
Responsibilities
Perform first-level preventive maintenance on air conditioning systems, including cleaning and replacing air filters, cleaning outdoor unit coils, and checking/cleaning condensate drains. Conduct daily inspections of all AC equipment, with critical attention to server rooms and telecommunication areas, monitoring temperatures and humidity levels. Diagnose and perform basic repairs on simple faults such as minor electrical issues, blockages, or low refrigerant. Supervise external service providers during major maintenance, refrigerant recharging, or new equipment installations, verifying work quality and compliance. Maintain a technical logbook for each unit, track inventory of spare parts, and ensure adherence to safety standards for electrical work and refrigerant handling. Ensure cleanliness of work and storage areas.
Work Experience
Proven experience in the maintenance and repair of air conditioning systems (split units, VRF, AHUs) is essential. Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting common AC faults and supervising external contractors is desirable.
