Organizational Context

Job Purpose

The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall management and successful implementation of the EW4ALL project in Chad. This includes mobilizing all project inputs, supervising project staff, consultants, and subcontractors. The role is crucial for strengthening early warning systems and climate/disaster risk management, adopting a multi-hazard approach to reduce the impacts of floods, droughts, and other climate shocks on populations and their livelihoods. The position contributes directly to the UNDP's mandate of supporting sustainable development and climate resilience in Chad, aligning with global and national development agendas.

Responsibilities

The Project Manager will oversee the project's overall management and execution, including planning and monitoring activities according to the approved work plan. Responsibilities include implementing activities by managing personnel, assets, services, and grants, developing terms of reference, and supervising contractors. The role involves coordinating early warning activities, ensuring the technical quality of deliverables, and managing project changes and issues. Financial management includes processing fund requests, supporting audits, monitoring financial resources for accurate reporting, and preparing financial reports. The manager will track project progress, identify deviations, propose adjustments, and report regularly to the project steering committee. This includes preparing inception reports, annual performance reports, and managing project plans, including gender, stakeholder engagement, and environmental/social management plans.
