Organizational Context

UN Women Haiti operates within the framework of its global strategic plan and national priorities for gender equality and women's empowerment. The country office supports national institutions, women's organizations, and humanitarian/development partners in implementing women's rights-based policies and programs. This role is crucial given Haiti's multidimensional crisis, which disproportionately affects women and girls, necessitating updated data to identify inequalities and guide interventions.

Job Purpose

This consultancy aims to provide specialized statistical expertise to UN Women Haiti for the development of a Gender Profile. The role involves supporting the creation and management of a gender statistics database within the Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO), coordinating with the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Informatics (IHSI) and other partners. The expert will also contribute to rapid gender analyses (ARG) and strengthen the capacities of women's organizations in data collection, management, analysis, and utilization. The ultimate goal is to inform public policies, UN Women's programming, and humanitarian interventions with reliable, sex-disaggregated data, ensuring a gender-responsive approach to development and crisis response.

Responsibilities

The National Gender Statistics Expert will support the development of the Gender Profile in Haiti by mapping data sources, establishing an inventory of gender indicators, and defining a harmonized framework for data disaggregation. Responsibilities include consolidating and analyzing existing data, proposing targeted data collection where gaps exist, and producing statistical tables, graphics, and comparative analyses. The expert will integrate an intersectional analysis of inequalities and women's contributions, contributing to the drafting and validation of the Gender Profile. Additionally, the role involves designing and supporting the management of a gender statistics database at the RCO, including developing dashboards and visualization products. Technical coordination with IHSI and government institutions, acting as UN Women's technical focal point, is also a key responsibility, ensuring dialogue on data sources, indicators, methodologies, and quality standards.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of professional experience in statistics, data analysis, and gender-related issues is required. Experience in the humanitarian or development sector in Haiti is a strong asset.
