This Finance Associate role is based in the Country Office, supporting operations and programme teams. The position operates under the guidance of the Deputy Director of Financial Management and the daily supervision of the Operations Manager.
Job Purpose
The Finance Associate is responsible for executing a broad range of financial services and administrative processes within the Country Office. This role ensures the timely, efficient, and transparent utilization of financial resources, adhering strictly to UN Women's financial rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. The Associate promotes a client-oriented approach, collaborating closely with Programme and Operations teams, as well as UN Women Headquarters, to resolve complex financial issues and facilitate information delivery, contributing to the effective financial management of the office.
Responsibilities
The Finance Associate implements financial strategies in compliance with UN Women's rules and regulations, including reviewing and verifying financial transactions, monitoring exceptions, and drafting financial status reports. They collect and present data for financial planning, work plans, and budgets, and provide advice on financial issues. The role involves managing office and programmatic budgets, implementing cost-saving strategies, and reviewing project delivery status reports. Additionally, the Associate prepares and administers Regional Office budgets, tracks resource utilization, prepares cost recovery documents, and manages projects in Quantum. They provide finance support to Programme and Operations teams, review accounts receivables, prepare invoices, record transactions, process payroll and travel claims, and monitor project budgets. The role also supports financial donor reporting, assists with audits, and provides administrative support to resource mobilization efforts, including drafting cost-sharing agreements.
Work Experience
A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in finance is required. Proficiency in computer and office software packages (MS Word, Excel), spreadsheet, and database packages, along with experience in handling web-based management systems, is essential. Experience with a modern web-based ERP system, such as Oracle Cloud, is desirable.
