Consultant for the Development of a Training Module on Artificial Intelligence, Institutional Transformation, and Gender-Responsive Statistical Leadership

In Asia and the Pacific, the 'Making Every Woman and Girl Count' program focuses on improving gender statistics, including those related to women's economic empowerment and technology-facilitated violence. This role supports capacity building within national statistical systems, aiming to develop women leaders.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to develop a one-hour training module on Artificial Intelligence (AI), institutional readiness, and gender-responsive statistical leadership. The module is designed for senior statistical leaders in Asia and the Pacific, to be delivered during Asia-Pacific Statistics Week 2026. It will equip participants with the understanding of AI's institutional implications, how to assess organizational readiness, and the leadership decisions needed for responsible and gender-responsive AI adoption, ensuring it advances gender equality within statistical institutions and outputs.
Responsibilities
The consultant will develop a comprehensive, one-hour training module on AI, institutional readiness, and gender-responsive statistical leadership. This includes finalizing learning objectives and session outlines in consultation with UN Women. The module will provide an executive orientation to AI, framing its adoption as a gender-responsive institutional transformation agenda. Key tasks involve assessing institutional readiness (strategy, governance, workforce, risks), examining gender bias in AI, and identifying actions to prevent inequalities. The consultant will align the module with regional/global AI agendas and develop interactive tools for self-assessment and action planning. Deliverables include a slide deck, facilitator guide, exercises, a leadership checklist, and an annotated resource list, suitable for remote or in-person delivery.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in gender or inclusive statistics, including capacity building and material development, is required. Experience in teaching and communicating statistical content to diverse audiences is also necessary. Experience in designing gender research and a working understanding of AI/ML for institutional decision-making is highly desired. Experience leading research teams is required.
