Regional Programme Officer on Ending Violence against Women

UN Women's Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) in Bangkok works to advance women's and girls' rights, focusing on eliminating violence against women (VAW). This role supports the UN Joint Programme on GBV Prevention, co-designed with DFAT and UNFPA, aiming to prevent gender-based violence in Southeast Asia through a comprehensive, multi-level approach.
Job Purpose
This international consultancy provides substantive programme support for the UN Joint Programme on GBV Prevention and other regional EVAW initiatives in Asia and the Pacific. Based in Bangkok, the Regional Programme Officer will assist in implementation, coordination, monitoring, reporting, knowledge management, and partnership engagement. The role contributes to UN Women's strategic plan to advance women's and girls' rights and eliminate violence, working closely with UNFPA and regional stakeholders to achieve prevention goals and promote gender equality.
Responsibilities
The Regional Programme Officer will support the implementation of the Joint Programme and related regional GBV prevention initiatives, ensuring alignment with workplans and policies. This includes coordinating with UNFPA, UN agencies, country offices, and partners, and supporting the organization of regional meetings and events. The role involves monitoring programme progress against indicators, compiling and analyzing data for reports, and drafting substantive sections of progress reports and other documentation. Additionally, the officer will support the development and dissemination of knowledge products on GBV prevention, coordinate learning activities, and manage programme documentation. Engagement with UN entities, civil society, and research institutions, along with support for advocacy and communications materials, is also a key function.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience is required in programme implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting, specifically focused on ending violence against women and girls or gender-based violence. Experience in the Southeast Asia region, particularly in VAW/GBV prevention, and working in international settings or with donor reporting and partnerships, is advantageous.
