Project Associate, UN Women (Local post for Nationals of Azerbaijan)

UN Women in Azerbaijan focuses on advancing gender equality and women's empowerment, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. The Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) portfolio prioritizes areas like transforming care systems, advancing women in the workplace, private sector engagement, and gender-responsive climate action. The current Bi-Annual Workplan emphasizes rural and marginalized women, with a specific project on private sector engagement and the Women's Empowerment Principles.
Job Purpose
The Programme Associate will support the planning, implementation, and management of UN Women's interventions in Azerbaijan, particularly within the Women's Economic Empowerment portfolio. This role focuses on projects related to women in the world of work and private sector engagement, such as the "Advancing Women’s Economic Empowerment and Resilience through Private Sector Engagement Anchored in the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) in Azerbaijan" project. The associate will work collaboratively with programme and operations teams in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and the Europe and Central Asia Regional Office, as well as with responsible parties, to ensure successful programme delivery and achievement of planned results, reporting to the Programme Specialist.
Responsibilities
The Programme Associate provides crucial administrative and logistical support for programme formulation and management, including preparing work plans, budgets, and proposals, and offering technical guidance on activity and financial reporting. They support financial management by creating projects in the Quantum system, managing budget revisions, and monitoring finances. The role involves undertaking logistical, administrative, and financial arrangements for meetings, workshops, and missions, as well as making travel arrangements for the programme team. Additionally, the associate supports resource mobilization by preparing agreements and processing donor contributions, and facilitates knowledge building by synthesizing lessons learned and best practices. Support is also provided for assessing the security situation in the host country and managing day-to-day security-related matters.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in administration, procurement, HR, or logistic support services is required. This includes experience with computer and office software packages (MS Word, Excel). Experience with UN Women/UNDP procurement and financial rules, gender equality and women's empowerment initiatives, and ERP systems like Oracle Cloud is advantageous.
