UN Women is dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women, working to eliminate discrimination and achieve equality between men and women. The "Making Every Woman and Girl Count" initiative aims to significantly improve the production, availability, accessibility, and use of gender statistics to support the 2030 Agenda. This Programme Analyst role, based in the Regional Office, supports the effective management and implementation of these crucial gender data initiatives.
Job Purpose
The Programme Analyst, within the "Making Every Woman and Girl Count" initiative, is responsible for contributing to the effective management of UN Women programmes. This involves providing substantive input to programme design, formulation, implementation, and evaluation. The role focuses on guiding and facilitating programme delivery by monitoring results, ensuring appropriate systems and procedures are applied, and developing enhancements as needed. The analyst collaborates closely with internal teams, country offices, government officials, donors, and civil society to ensure successful programme implementation and to drive a shift in the production and use of quality gender statistics.
Responsibilities
The Programme Analyst will contribute technically to the development of programme strategies for the Women Count Programme, providing substantive inputs to proposals and identifying areas for intervention. They will lead the implementation of programme activities, coordinate proposal calls, and review partner reports. The role involves providing technical assistance and capacity building to partners, developing knowledge products, and maintaining relationships with national stakeholders. Monitoring progress of activities and finances using results-based management tools, drafting reports, and providing substantive input to donor and UN Women reports are key duties. The analyst will also manage programme operations, finances, and logistics, including budget monitoring and maintaining programme documentation. Furthermore, they will contribute to partnership and resource mobilization strategies, and support advocacy, knowledge building, and communication efforts by developing briefs and coordinating events.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of progressive work experience in development programme/project implementation, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building is required. Experience with the Women Count Programme, liaising with government agencies and donors, and proficiency in computer and office software packages (including web-based management systems) are desirable. Experience with ERP systems like Oracle Cloud and working within the UN system is also advantageous.
