Organizational Context

UN Women's office in North Macedonia supports the country's normative commitments in governance, ending violence against women, and economic empowerment. It collaborates with UN, government, CSOs, and the private sector to advance gender equality. The office implements projects funded by Switzerland and Sweden, aiming for more accountable, transparent, and inclusive governance to improve the lives of women and girls.

Job Purpose

This consultancy aims to support the Ministry of Social Policy, Demography and Youth, and the State Statistical Office in developing the Gender Equality Index for North Macedonia. The expert will contribute to the Narrative Report, which provides contextual understanding of the index results. The assignment involves developing a partial index or dashboard in 2026 and a complete Gender Equality Index in 2027, based on EIGE methodology and data provided by the State Statistical Office.

Responsibilities

The National Experts will develop a work plan and conduct consultations with key stakeholders. They will gather and classify information to draft the Gender Equality Index dashboard for 2026 and the narrative report for 2027, using the EIGE methodology and data from the State Statistical Office. Responsibilities include contextualizing results, incorporating stakeholder feedback, preparing presentations of key findings, and participating in public presentations. An explanatory note for data interpretation and narrative report development will also be prepared. The final report will be submitted to UN Women.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in gender equality, focusing on gender statistics and/or public policy and budget monitoring. Experience in developing gender equality indices and statistic documents, knowledge of national gender and statistic policies in North Macedonia, and familiarity with results-based management are required. Experience with international organizations is an asset.
