Organizational Context

The Nepal Country Office (NCO) implements these goals within the country. The Communications Analyst role supports the UN Women Country Representative in planning and executing communications and advocacy strategies to enhance UN Women's visibility and standing with partners, media, and the public.

Job Purpose

The Communications Analyst is responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of UN Women Nepal's communications and advocacy strategies. This role aims to increase the organization's standing and awareness among partners, the media, and the public. The Analyst collaborates closely with programme, operations, and technical teams within the Nepal Country Office, as well as with other UN agencies, government counterparts, media, development partners, and civil society organizations to achieve these objectives.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement communication and advocacy strategies, including needs assessments and proposal integration. Produce and disseminate communication materials such as press releases, human-interest stories, and multimedia content. Manage media relations, maintain press databases, and organize media events. Build and maintain partnerships with civil society, government, and donors, providing communication support for proposals and reports. Manage the NCO's online presence, including the website and social media platforms, ensuring compliance with corporate standards. Facilitate knowledge building and sharing by synthesizing best practices and providing technical guidance on communication, advocacy, and visibility to personnel and partners. The role also involves supervising a Communications Associate and potentially coordinating consultants.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in public relations, communications, or advocacy is required. Experience in media relations and the use of social media is also required. Proficiency with computers, office software, database packages, and web-based management systems is necessary. Experience in development communications, gender equality advocacy, or within the UN system is desirable.
