Software Tester (QA/QC)
Organizational Context
The Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) of the United Nations is spearheading the organization's digital transformation. The Enterprise Solutions Service (OICT/ESS) within OICT develops and supports a wide array of enterprise solutions. This role is situated within the OICT/ESS office, hosted by the UN Global Geospatial Knowledge and Innovation Centre in Deqing, China.
Job Purpose
This role is crucial for ensuring the quality and reliability of applications developed by the Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT). The primary purpose is to support the Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) processes for various OICT-developed applications. This involves contributing technical expertise to enhance the QA process, improve solution design quality, and provide comprehensive documentation. The position aims to validate functional and technical requirements through rigorous testing, ensuring that solutions meet organizational standards and user needs, ultimately contributing to the UN's digital transformation goals.
Responsibilities
The Software Tester will be responsible for creating comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for assigned modules, adhering to organizational quality standards. This includes developing automation scripts to streamline repetitive validation tasks and executing various testing techniques such as smoke, sanity, black-box, and regression testing to verify functionality against requirements. The role involves validating both functional and technical requirements through system and regression testing. Additionally, the tester will be tasked with identifying, creating, and managing test data across relevant systems for System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Contributing technical expertise to the QA process and providing detailed documentation of changes, including version control management using systems like Git, are also key duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of hands-on Quality Assurance (QA) experience with web applications and mobile apps across various browsers and devices is required. Demonstrable experience with automation tools, preferably Cypress or Playwright, is also necessary. Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is considered desirable.
