Intern: Data Analysis and Results Management
Organizational Context
The International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint agency of the UN and WTO, provides technical assistance to developing countries to foster sustainable growth and employment. The Export Quality Management (EQM) unit, within the Division for Enterprise Competitiveness and Institutions, focuses on enhancing MSME competitiveness by improving their capacity to meet international standards and overcome trade barriers. This internship supports the EQM team's strategic planning.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the Export Quality Management (EQM) team at the International Trade Centre (ITC) by developing and piloting an internal data management mechanism. This mechanism will systematically collect and analyze data to provide insights for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation, and reporting across the EQM portfolio. The role will contribute to modernizing and scaling ITC's offers, providing the intern with cross-cutting exposure to trade-related technical assistance projects and practical experience in project data management, results monitoring, and evidence-based analysis within a UN/WTO context.
Responsibilities
Support the design and development of an internal data management mechanism by reviewing existing data requirements, identifying key indicators, and contributing to the design of practical tools for data collection, consolidation, analysis, and reporting. Pilot and refine the developed mechanism by applying it to selected projects, testing its usefulness, gathering feedback, identifying data gaps, and contributing to its improvement and documentation. Analyze consolidated data to identify trends, patterns, gaps, and lessons learned relevant to planning, decision-making, and reporting for the EQM portfolio.
Work Experience
Previous practical experience in data management, data analysis, monitoring, or research is highly desirable, including internships or academic projects. Experience in structuring and analyzing data, and presenting findings through dashboards or reports, would be an asset.
Skills
Strong analytical and data management skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Office Suite. Ability to analyze and present data clearly. Strong written communication and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Familiarity with data analysis/visualization tools is an asset. Knowledge of or interest in trade technical assistance, standards, quality management, or SME development.
