IMEO Digital Innovation and Platform Delivery Specialist
Organizational Context
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) leads the global environmental agenda. Its International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) is a data-driven initiative focused on reducing methane emissions to combat climate change. This role supports IMEO's digital products and Methane Data Platform, operating remotely.
Job Purpose
This role provides strategic and project management support to the Head of IMEO and relevant teams for complex digital and innovation initiatives. The purpose is to translate strategic objectives into structured work plans, coordinate cross-functional delivery, manage risks, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality digital products. The consultant will oversee the efficient progression of IMEO's digital initiatives from planning and development through testing, launch, and continuous improvement, aligning with the goal of accelerating methane emission reductions and supporting the Paris Agreement.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting the programme management, operational delivery, and continuous improvement of IMEO's digital products and Methane Data Platform. This involves ensuring effective coordination across technical, data, engagement, and content teams, as well as external delivery partners. The role requires providing strategic and project-management support for planning and executing complex digital and innovation initiatives. This includes translating strategic objectives into structured workplans, coordinating cross-functional delivery, managing dependencies and risks, and supporting the timely delivery of high-quality products. The consultant will ensure digital initiatives progress efficiently through all project phases, from requirements and planning to development, testing, launch, and ongoing improvement.
Work Experience
A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible professional experience in project/programme management, product development, innovation delivery, or technology programmes is required. Demonstrated experience managing complex, cross-functional projects from planning through launch is essential. Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing complex dependencies, risks, and changing requirements is also required.
