Organizational Context
The International Trade Centre (ITC) is a joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, focused on providing technical assistance to policymakers and the private sector. ITC supports the Sustainable Development Goals by connecting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to global value chains, particularly in developing countries. This role is part of ITC's engagement with the China International Import Expo (CIIE).
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the International Trade Centre's (ITC) engagement with the China International Import Expo (CIIE), a significant platform for promoting trade and investment. The role will contribute to ITC's mission of enabling MSMEs from developing countries to access the Chinese market and foster export success. By assisting in the organization and execution of ITC's participation in CIIE, the intern will help facilitate business contacts and new export opportunities for these enterprises, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals. The position is home-based in Shanghai, China, and supports ITC's ongoing efforts to boost sustainable growth and employment generation through trade.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide essential support for ITC's participation in the China International Import Expo (CIIE). Key duties include assisting participating MSMEs with pre-event logistics, such as WeChat and exhibition registration. The role involves collecting, organizing, and translating necessary materials to facilitate smooth operations. Additionally, the intern will support the implementation of project activities, including the organization of meetings, training sessions, and events. Collaboration with team members is crucial to ensure the effective and seamless execution of all project-related tasks and activities, contributing to the overall success of ITC's CIIE initiatives.
Work Experience
Prior work or study experience in international trade is considered an asset. Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or WorkBuddy is also desirable. The role requires proficiency in the full Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams). Experience with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) is an asset. Advanced English language skills are required. Working knowledge of Chinese is desirable.
