Organizational Context

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) is a UN body established in 1949 to assist and protect approximately 5.8 million registered Palestine refugees across Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank, and Gaza. UNRWA provides essential services including education, healthcare, and social services, operating as the largest UN entity in the Middle East with over 30,000 staff. This role reports to the Senior TVET Instructor or Deputy Principal of the Training Centre.

Job Purpose

This Vocational Training Instructor role is crucial for developing and delivering effective learning programs in sheet metal within UNRWA's Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) framework. The instructor will support curriculum design, conduct competency analyses, and integrate new technologies and career guidance. A key aspect is facilitating both school-based and work-based learning, employing adult learning strategies, and ensuring inclusive training for all students, including those with disabilities. The role involves preparing and administering formative and summative assessments, maintaining linkages with employers, and applying quality assurance processes. Additionally, the instructor will contribute to TVET greening and digitalization initiatives, fostering a collaborative and disciplined learning environment while upholding occupational health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Support the design and development of learning programs and curricula, including occupational analyses, drafting learning materials, and integrating emerging technologies. Facilitate school-based and work-based learning by preparing training venues, utilizing facilities, selecting trainees, and developing inclusive lesson plans. Employ adult learning strategies, accommodate trainees with special needs, and mainstream Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) and core skills. Prepare and conduct formative and summative assessments, including practice-based and knowledge-based tests, and develop inclusive assessment plans. Maintain linkages with employers and TVET instructors, utilizing labor market information to identify skills gaps. Apply quality assurance tools and processes according to the UNRWA TVET Quality Assurance Framework. Support TVET greening and digitalization initiatives, integrating relevant skills into training. Collaborate with staff to coordinate teaching, maintain a respectful environment, and implement co-curricular activities, ensuring OSH measures are in place.
