Organizational Context

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) is a UN body established in 1949 to assist and protect approximately 5.8 million registered Palestine refugees across Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank, and Gaza. With over 30,000 staff, it is the largest UN operation in the Middle East, providing essential services including education, healthcare, and social services. This role reports to the Senior TVET Instructor or Deputy Principal.

Job Purpose

This role is crucial for supporting the design, development, and delivery of vocational education and training (TVET) programs for Palestine refugees. The incumbent will contribute to curriculum development, facilitate inclusive learning experiences using adult learning strategies, and ensure the integration of new technologies, green skills, and digitalization into training. A key aspect is designing and conducting assessments to measure trainee competency and learning outcomes. The position also involves building strong linkages with employers and utilizing labor market information to ensure training relevance and address skills gaps. By applying quality assurance frameworks and collaborating with colleagues, the role aims to enhance the effectiveness and impact of UNRWA's TVET initiatives, ultimately helping refugees achieve their full potential in human development.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include supporting the design and development of learning programs and curricula, conducting occupational analyses, and integrating new technologies and career guidance. The role involves facilitating school-based and work-based learning, preparing training venues, managing inclusive learning environments, and employing adult learning strategies, including mainstreaming Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) and core skills. Designing and conducting formative and summative assessments, including practice-based and knowledge-based tests, is essential. Building linkages with employers, utilizing labor market information, and analyzing skills needs are also critical. The incumbent will apply quality assurance tools, support TVET greening and digitalization initiatives, and collaborate with staff to coordinate teaching, maintain a respectful environment, and implement co-curricular activities.
