Organizational Context

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) is a UN organization established in 1949 to assist and protect approximately 5.8 million registered Palestine refugees across Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank, and Gaza. UNRWA provides essential services including education, healthcare, and social services, operating as the largest UN entity in the Middle East with over 30,000 staff. This role reports to the Senior TVET Instructor or Deputy Principal.

Job Purpose

This role is crucial for supporting and facilitating the delivery of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs, specifically in Renewable Energy. The incumbent will contribute to the design and development of curricula, ensuring they are up-to-date with emerging technologies and integrate essential skills like career guidance, Occupational Health and Safety (OSH), and core competencies for life and work. A key aspect is facilitating inclusive learning experiences for all trainees, including those with disabilities, and employing effective adult learning strategies. The position also involves designing and conducting assessments, building linkages with employers to align training with labor market needs, and applying quality assurance frameworks to enhance program effectiveness. Furthermore, the role supports the greening and digitalization of TVET initiatives, developing and delivering both synchronous and asynchronous training sessions.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include supporting the design and development of learning programs and curricula, conducting competency analyses, and drafting learning materials. The role involves facilitating school-based and work-based learning, preparing training venues, managing facilities and equipment, and developing inclusive lesson plans. It requires employing adult learning strategies, integrating OSH and core skills, and managing learning environments. The incumbent will design and conduct formative and summative assessments, including practice-based and knowledge-based tests, and develop assessment tools. Building linkages with employers and utilizing labor market information to identify skills gaps is essential. The role also entails applying quality assurance processes, supporting TVET greening and digitalization initiatives, and collaborating with colleagues to maintain a respectful and disciplined learning environment. This includes implementing OSH measures and reporting on incidents.
