Organizational Context
The UN Health Care Center (UNHCC) at the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) provides core and non-core health services to UN staff and their dependents in Ethiopia. This role is situated within the Division of Administration, supporting the UNHCC's mission to ensure client satisfaction and adherence to organizational health regulations.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to ensure the delivery of high-quality physiotherapy care, supporting client rehabilitation and functional recovery. The Physiotherapy Assistant Nurse facilitates timely interventions, maintains professional standards, and ensures comprehensive documentation. This position contributes to optimal patient outcomes and satisfaction by effectively managing appointments, coordinating with healthcare teams, and assisting in treatment delivery. The role also involves maintaining equipment, educating patients, and adhering to all relevant policies and procedures within the UNHCC.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include registering patients for physiotherapy services in the electronic medical record system and scheduling appointments in consultation with the physiotherapist. The role involves sending appointment reminders, managing insurance guarantees, and ensuring timely payment processing for treatments. The incumbent will monitor patient vital signs and range of motion during sessions, assist physiotherapists with treatments and rehabilitation programs, and provide basic physiotherapy interventions under supervision. Documentation of patient progress, preparation and maintenance of equipment and treatment areas, and patient/caregiver education on home exercises and assistive devices are also crucial. Effective communication with the healthcare team, participation in meetings and training, and adherence to professional standards are essential.
Work Experience
A minimum of four years of experience as a nurse is required, with at least two years specifically in a physiotherapy center. Proficiency in using an electronic medical record system and strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), are essential.
