Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide students and recent graduates with practical experience in international trade and logistics within the UN system. Interns will support the Transport Section's critical work on developing efficient, sustainable, and resilient freight transport systems for developing countries. The role contributes to research, data analysis, technical assistance projects, and event organization, fostering a deeper understanding of global supply chain dynamics and the UN's role in facilitating international trade and development.
Responsibilities
Interns will actively participate in research and analysis related to sustainable transport, logistics, and supply chain resilience, contributing to background notes and analytical drafts. Key duties include collecting, cleaning, and analyzing transport data, supporting technical assistance projects on areas like food supply chains and smart ports, and assisting in the preparation of training materials. Interns will also support the organization of events, including the UNCTAD Global Supply Chain Forum, by conducting research and preparing documentation. Additionally, they will assist in managing web content, packaging communication materials, and providing administrative support for project implementation and reporting.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, applicants should demonstrate a keen interest in the UN's work and possess relevant academic or volunteer experience related to sustainable transport, ports, logistics, resilient supply chains, or statistics.
