Organizational Context
The UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO) support countries in achieving development priorities and SDGs, operating under the UN Secretariat's reformed Development System. This role is within the UN RCO in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, reporting to the Head of the Office, and contributes to the UN 2.0 shift focused on data, digital innovation, and strategic foresight.
Job Purpose
The Driver is responsible for safely transporting authorized personnel and goods, making deliveries between UN offices and external institutions, and facilitating airport arrivals. The role involves performing minor vehicle maintenance, managing vehicle logs, and assisting with customs procedures. Additionally, the incumbent may assist with data collection, analysis, and the preparation of reports and information materials. This position supports the operational efficiency of the UN Resident Coordination Office in Malabo, ensuring smooth logistical operations and effective communication with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Safely operate vehicles for personnel and cargo transport, including specialized hazardous goods vehicles if applicable. Conduct regular deliveries of documents and parcels between UN offices and external entities such as ministries and embassies. Perform minor purchases and collect urgent items from local suppliers, and manage customs clearance for goods. Facilitate the arrival of official personnel at the airport, assisting with immigration and customs. Maintain assigned vehicles through daily checks, minor repairs, and ensuring cleanliness. Accurately log all official trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance. Ensure adherence to all rules and regulations in case of vehicle accidents. Apply sound judgment in all assigned tasks. Provide support in collecting and analyzing data, preparing presentations, and updating information materials like web pages or brochures. Perform other assigned duties as required.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressive, responsible driving experience with a safe driving record is required. Experience operating various vehicle types, including vans, is necessary. Experience with the United Nations or other international organizations is desirable.
