Organizational Context

These Field Security Assistant positions are based in Mogadishu, Somalia, within the UNDSS Integrated Security Workforce. The role reports to the Chief Security Officer, supporting staff and dependents by providing essential administrative and security-related services to ensure operational effectiveness and safety.

Job Purpose

The Field Security Assistant provides crucial administrative and logistical support to Fire Safety and Security Officers, contributing to the overall security framework in Mogadishu. This role involves assisting in the consolidation and dissemination of security information, preparation of security documents, and maintaining records for training programs. The position supports the implementation of security plans, monitors policy adherence, and aids in organizing security awareness activities and orientations for staff. Additionally, the assistant conducts fire safety inspections and assists in maintaining fire and rescue equipment, responding to incidents as directed, thereby ensuring a secure environment for all personnel.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive administrative support to Fire Safety and Security Officers, assisting with staff and dependent welfare. Consolidate and disseminate security information for situation analysis. Prepare security-related documents, including Security Plans, Risk Management assessments, and activity reports. Draft correspondence and maintain records for unit training courses. Support the implementation of security plans and monitor adherence to security policies and procedures. Assist in reviewing logistics for training, drills, and exercises. Organize and conduct security awareness activities, provide security orientations, and deliver briefings. Conduct fire safety inspections, report issues, and maintain fire and rescue equipment. Respond to fire and rescue incidents under direction. Perform other assigned duties to support the security section's objectives.

Work Experience

A minimum of three years of relevant experience in security, police, or military roles is required. This is reduced to one year for candidates with a first-level university degree. Experience in administration, logistical support, and investigations is desirable.
