Organizational Context

The Geneva Environment Network (GEN) is a partnership of over 100 organizations advancing the global environmental agenda from Geneva. Led by UNEP, the GEN secretariat promotes cooperation and information sharing among members. This internship is within the GEN Secretariat, supporting its mission to enhance access to environmental information and public outreach.

Job Purpose

This internship aims to support the Geneva Environment Network (GEN) Secretariat in its mission to foster cooperation and disseminate environmental information. The intern will contribute to various GEN activities, including conferences, newsletters, social media, and website updates. A key aspect of the role involves leading preparations for visits by students and country delegations, thereby enhancing the network's outreach and engagement efforts. The position offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in environmental diplomacy and communication within an international setting.

Responsibilities

Assist in developing and launching projects focused on Environmental Information and Public Awareness to support environmental negotiations, including organizing outreach meetings and gathering relevant materials. Support the team in organizing hybrid meetings by managing logistics, preparing invitations, and drafting summaries. Manage the Geneva Environment Network's digital and social media accounts (Facebook, X, BlueSky, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube). Maintain the calendar of events and update the GEN website. Provide day-to-day administrative support to the secretariat as needed to implement the work programme.

Work Experience

Experience in drafting articles and/or social media posts is required. Desirable experience includes using social media, managing websites, and producing media content. Knowledge of international Geneva is also beneficial.

Skills

Proficiency in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, and Canva. Experience in drafting articles and social media posts. Social media management. Website content management. Media content production. Strong communication skills in English and French.
