Public Information Intern: Assisting in Creation of Original Content for Social Media Platforms

The United Nations Secretariat, specifically the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, seeks an intern for the Division for Palestinian Rights at UN Headquarters in New York. This division serves as the Secretariat for the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People. The role is based in New York and offers flexible working arrangements.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the Division for Palestinian Rights in enhancing its communication outreach through social media. The intern will be instrumental in creating original, engaging content for various platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok. This involves translating UN-related stories into compelling narratives and generating content from special events. The role contributes to raising awareness and disseminating information about the Committee's work and related issues, leveraging multimedia skills to produce high-quality visual and textual content for web and social media channels, thereby supporting the Division's mandate.
Responsibilities
The intern will identify and develop UN-related storytelling opportunities into completed content for social media platforms. Key duties include assisting in the creation of original content for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok, and generating social media content from Division-organized events such as film screenings and exhibits. The role involves providing production assistance, videography, video editing, and creating high-quality animations. Additionally, the intern will capture and edit photos and videos in various multimedia formats for web content and social media announcements, support multimedia updates to the UNISPAL website, and undertake other drafting assignments as required to support the Division for Palestinian Rights.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, practical experience or relevant training in video and photo editing software, such as Adobe After Effects, is necessary. Familiarity with common video and image editing software packages is also required.
