Organizational Context

The UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO) support countries in achieving development priorities and SDGs, operating under the UN Secretariat's Development Operations Coordination Office (DCO). This role is within the UN RCO in Bujumbura, Burundi, reporting to the Head of RCO, and contributes to the UN 2.0 shift focused on data, digital, and innovation.

Job Purpose

This role supports inter-agency UNCT groups and tracks the Cooperation Framework by developing monitoring and evaluation products, co-designing digital tools with national partners, and creating reports and dashboards. The incumbent will produce data visualization products, manage data collection and analysis, and contribute to data products like briefs and newsletters. Responsibilities include integrating monitoring data into common pipelines, strengthening UNCT statistical capacity, interpreting data insights for stakeholders, and staying abreast of data analytics trends. The role also involves conducting outcome-level analyses, identifying gaps in National Statistical Systems, and supporting capacity-building initiatives on data analytics and results-based management for staff and partners.

Responsibilities

Contribute to developing monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) products for UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks. Co-design digital tools and dashboards with national statistical partners to track SDG progress and ensure platform interoperability. Develop reports, dashboards, and data visualization products to summarize findings and support decision-making. Implement project activities, including data collection, preliminary analysis, and issue escalation. Produce data products such as reports, briefs, and newsletters. Support the integration of monitoring data into common data pipelines. Strengthen UNCT statistical capacity by mapping technical assistance. Compile and interpret data insights for stakeholder engagement. Stay updated on data analytics trends and best practices. Conduct outcome-level analyses and contribution/attribution studies. Identify and address gaps within National Statistical Systems. Support capacity-building initiatives on data analytics and results-based management. Assist with data preparation, verification, and routine reporting. Manage monitoring, evaluation, and learning cycle activities. Apply data science solutions and develop organizational capabilities. Coordinate with cross-functional teams on data models. Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of progressive experience in translating business requirements into technical solutions is required. Experience in data life cycle management (collection, wrangling, analysis, visualization, reporting) is required. Experience in developing and executing training programs is also required. Experience in data quality assurance, data validation, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, R) is desirable.
