Organizational Context

The UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO), under the UN Secretariat's Development Operations Coordination Office (DCO), support countries in achieving development priorities and SDGs. This role is within the UN RCO in Minsk, Belarus, contributing to the UN 2.0 shift focused on data, digital, and innovation. The position reports to the Head of the Resident Coordinator's Office.

Job Purpose

The Associate Data Specialist supports the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Minsk by developing and implementing databases, data collection systems, and data analytics to optimize statistical efficiency and quality. This role involves collaborating with internal and external counterparts to gather requirements, analyze trends, and interpret data. The specialist will contribute to creating reports, dashboards, and visualizations to inform decision-making and communicate findings. Additionally, the position supports capacity-building efforts in data analytics and stays updated on best practices and emerging technologies in the field, contributing to the acceleration of the 2030 Agenda and SDGs.

Responsibilities

Implement and maintain databases, data collection systems, and data analytics strategies to enhance statistical efficiency and quality. Analyze and interpret trends and patterns using statistical methods to identify key features and variables. Acquire and clean data from various sources, ensuring data integrity. Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations to effectively communicate findings and support management decisions. Track progress on data initiatives and contribute to gathering business requirements to identify pain points. Assist with data collection, preliminary analysis, and project tasks, reporting issues to senior staff. Support capacity-building activities and trainings on data analytics. Stay current with data analytics best practices, technologies, and tools.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of progressive experience in translating business requirements into technical solutions is required. Demonstrated knowledge of data manipulation, data analysis concepts (e.g., data structures, statistical methods), and the data lifecycle (collection, wrangling, analysis, visualization, reporting) is necessary. Experience with data quality assurance, data storytelling, and visualization tools is desirable.
