Organizational Context
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) is a regional commission of the United Nations dedicated to fostering economic and social development in the Latin American and Caribbean region. It provides policy design, monitoring, and evaluation services, along with advisory and training support to governments. This internship is within the Human Resources Section of the Division of Administration in Santiago.
Job Purpose
This internship within the Human Resources Section of ECLAC in Santiago offers a valuable learning opportunity for individuals pursuing studies in Administration, Human Resources, Data Analytics, Communication, or Advertising. The intern will gain practical experience by supporting the HR team in various data-related tasks, contributing to the section's operational efficiency and reporting capabilities. This role is designed to provide hands-on exposure to HR functions within a United Nations context, assisting in data collection, validation, analysis, and communication efforts. The internship is expected to last for six months, providing a comprehensive understanding of HR processes and data management within an international organization.
Responsibilities
The intern will assist in collecting, compiling, and organizing HR-related data, and support the review and validation of this data, identifying any inconsistencies or missing information. Responsibilities include maintaining and updating HR databases with statistics and indicators, and preparing datasets, tables, and statistical summaries for periodic reports. The role involves basic analysis of HR data to identify trends and patterns, and supporting the creation of charts, dashboards, and other data visualizations using tools like Excel and Power BI. Additionally, the intern will help prepare newsletters and communication materials related to HR data, organize analytical files, and maintain supporting documentation for data traceability. Performing other assigned duties is also part of the role.
Work Experience
No specific work experience is explicitly required for this internship. However, practical experience in data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting, particularly within Human Resources or a related field, would be beneficial. Familiarity with data visualization tools is also advantageous.
