Organizational Context

The UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO), under the UN Secretariat's Development Operations Coordination Office (DCO), support countries in achieving development priorities and SDGs. This role, based in Skopje, North Macedonia, operates within the reformed UN Development System, focusing on strategic partnerships to advance the 2030 Agenda and UN 2.0 initiatives.

Job Purpose

The Partnerships Officer provides crucial advice and support to the UN Resident Coordinator and the UN Country Team (UNCT) in Skopje, North Macedonia, to foster strategic partnerships for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This role is integral to the UN's reform efforts, aiming to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the UN Development System at the country level. By engaging with diverse stakeholders, including civil society, the private sector, and government, the officer facilitates joint initiatives and resource mobilization, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and the UN 2.0 agenda, which emphasizes data, digital innovation, and strategic foresight.

Responsibilities

The Partnerships Officer leads the development and implementation of the UN Partnership and Resource Mobilization Strategy, coordinating with UN entities and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include building interfaces with development partners, government, private sector, and civil society; providing support for strategic planning and coordination of UNCT partnerships; identifying risks and opportunities; and conducting due diligence for partnership opportunities. The role also involves supporting resource mobilization initiatives, managing pooled funds, and advising on financing for development options aligned with national frameworks. Furthermore, the officer contributes to knowledge management, promotes best practices, and supports data analysis and reporting related to partnerships and resource mobilization efforts.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in strategic partnership support, project/programme management, and resource mobilization within development cooperation is required. Experience in developing partnerships across government, private sector, and civil society, designing and implementing partnerships, and resource mobilization strategies is essential. Experience in promoting knowledge management and supporting SDG financing is desirable.
