Driver
Organizational Context
The UN Support Office in Haiti requires an Individual Contractor Driver to manage the increased volume of incoming assets and support workshop operations. This role is crucial for maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring the timely processing of fleet assets within the UN Secretariat.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide safe and reliable transportation services for authorized personnel and general cargo within Haiti. The Driver will ensure the timely delivery of parcels and documents, assist with customs procedures, and perform minor vehicle maintenance. This position is essential for supporting the operational needs of the UN Support Office in Haiti, contributing to the smooth functioning of logistics and personnel movement. The role requires flexibility and good judgment to handle various transport-related tasks and unexpected situations effectively.
Responsibilities
Safely operate vehicles for transporting personnel and cargo. Deliver parcels and documents between offices and institutions. Procure minor and urgent supplies from local vendors. Manage customs clearance for goods, including payment processing. Provide airport reception for official personnel, assisting with immigration and customs. Maintain assigned vehicles, including regular checks, minor repairs, and cleaning. Perform VIP and standby driver duties as required. Support the workshop in preparing vehicles for field assignments. Report vehicle damage, tool loss, and log fuel consumption. Respond appropriately to vehicle accidents. Exercise good judgment in performing all assigned duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of driving experience is required. Experience operating various vehicle types, including light passenger vehicles, SUVs, ambulances, trucks, and vans, is essential. Experience driving armored vehicles and a clean driving record are mandatory. Experience within the UN system or a similar international organization is desirable.
