Organizational Context
The International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM) was established to investigate and prosecute serious crimes in Syria. This internship is within the Information Systems Management Section, supporting the IIIM's mandate. This is a generic opening to build a pool of qualified candidates for internships.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the Information Systems Management Section of the IIIM with tasks related to internet research and information management. The intern will conduct targeted open-source research, analyze political, economic, social, technological, and legal issues relevant to the Syrian situation, and assist with information governance, data analysis, and script development. The role contributes to the IIIM's efforts by synthesizing information and presenting findings to aid in investigations and prosecutions. The intern will also develop a final presentation detailing their research and analysis for the IIIM's exclusive use, ensuring timely and accurate completion of assigned duties.
Responsibilities
Conduct targeted open-source research and analysis on issues related to the Syrian situation. Research and summarize political, economic, social, technological, and legal aspects relevant to the current Syrian context. Assist in developing frameworks and processes for information governance, data analysis, and script development. Compile research and analysis into a final presentation for the IIIM. Ensure timely and accurate completion of all assigned tasks, meeting deadlines and responding promptly to instructions. Maintain strict confidentiality of all accessed records and information. Work effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating professionalism and respect for colleagues and stakeholders.
Work Experience
No prior experience is necessary. However, candidates should have relevant coursework in fields such as international relations, journalism, law, international politics, information governance, data science, or engineering. A broad range of educational, project, volunteering, or research experience backgrounds are welcome.
