Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the Data Unit of the United Nations Operations and Crisis Centre (UNOCC) by producing Geographical Information System (GIS) maps. These maps will serve various purposes, including operational support, advocacy, awareness-raising, and strategic planning. The role contributes to integrated analysis, modelling, and data engineering that informs UN leadership on country risk outlooks, crisis developments, and historical trends. The internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in a dynamic international environment, contributing to critical decision-making processes within the UN.
Responsibilities
Support the Data Unit of the United Nations Operations and Crisis Centre (UNOCC) in producing GIS maps for diverse purposes and users. Contribute to operational support, advocacy efforts, and awareness-raising initiatives through cartographic products. Assist in strategic planning by generating relevant spatial data visualizations. Participate in integrated analysis, modelling, and data engineering activities. Ensure the effective communication and dissemination of GIS-based information to inform senior UN leadership and decision-making bodies regarding country risk outlooks and crisis developments.
