The United Nations Operations and Crisis Centre (UNOCC) is a multi-party entity within the UN Secretariat, operationally positioned under the Coordination and Shared Services (ODCSS) between the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and the Department of Peace Operations. Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the Data Unit of the United Nations Operations and Crisis Centre (UNOCC) by producing Geographical Information System (GIS) maps. These maps will serve various purposes, including operational support, advocacy, awareness-raising, and strategic planning. The role contributes to integrated analysis, modelling, and data engineering that informs UN leadership on country risk outlooks, crisis developments, and historical trends. The internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in a dynamic international environment, contributing to critical decision-making processes within the UN.
Responsibilities
Support the Data Unit of the United Nations Operations and Crisis Centre (UNOCC) in its mission to provide integrated analysis and data engineering. Produce GIS maps tailored for diverse users and purposes, including operational support, advocacy, and strategic planning. Contribute to the analysis of country risk outlooks, crisis developments, and predictive/historic trends. Assist in facilitating cross-pillar analysis and decision-making processes within the UN. Ensure the effective utilization of GIS for global situational awareness and crisis management. Collaborate with team members to achieve unit objectives and support senior UN leadership.
Work Experience
