Organizational Context
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Job Purpose
To provide technical assistance for the methodological conduct of prioritization analysis using the HORIZON tool and effective coordination between counterparts in the Ministry of Public Health and PAHO.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the formulation or refinement of the cost-effectiveness pilot study question for the HORIZON tool. Support the formation of a working group. Facilitate local meetings. Participate in periodic national and regional working group meetings via Zoom/Teams. Collaborate in organizing a broader stakeholder consultation meeting to review the modeling approach, data sources, and policy scenarios. Present working group results to the NITAG. Support the development, implementation, and documentation of the data collection plan for HORIZON analyses. Collect, compile, debug, and/or validate data for decision support tools (e.g., epidemiological, demographic, and cost data). Collaborate in adapting and completing selected tools, documenting assumptions, data sources, and methodologies. Support the interpretation of tool-generated results. Support the finalization, adaptation, and documentation of selected tools and assumptions. Prepare synthesis reports and ensure adequate documentation of data sources and methodologies, potentially including a draft publication.
Work Experience
Essential: At least three (3) years of experience in the design, implementation, monitoring, or evaluation of public health programs. At least three (3) years of experience working in immunizations. Desirable: Experience in managing and analyzing epidemiological and demographic information. Experience in handling and analyzing epidemiological, demographic, and cost databases. Experience in preparing technical reports, policy documents, publications, or evidence products for decision-makers.
Skills
Knowledge of data sources for modeling vaccination impact and cost-effectiveness (national vaccination coverage, vaccine effectiveness, demographics, vaccine costs, etc.). Essential information technology skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
