Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a UN-related agency dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. It supports governments and migrants by saving lives, protecting people on the move, resolving displacement, and facilitating legal migration pathways. The organization prioritizes a respectful, inclusive, and supportive workplace to maximize the potential of migration and enhance support for those on the move.
Job Purpose
This role supports IOM's Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Sexual Harassment (PSEAH) efforts at the country level, aligning with UN and Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) priorities. The PSEAH Officer provides technical oversight and management support, adhering to a victim-centered approach. The position is crucial for implementing IOM's PSEAH strategy, which focuses on leadership, accountability, capacity development, victim assistance, and partnerships. The incumbent will also actively participate in the in-country inter-agency PSEA Network, contributing to collective efforts to prevent and respond to SEAH, ensuring a safe and rights-based approach to migration.
Responsibilities
The PSEAH Officer is responsible for coordinating PSEAH activities, including developing work plans aligned with strategic frameworks and integrating PSEAH into country strategies and programming. This involves risk assessment, mainstreaming PSEAH in proposals, monitoring, and budgeting, and contributing to interagency PSEA networks and community-based complaint mechanisms. Prevention duties include identifying SEAH risks, developing and delivering training for IOM personnel and partners, and implementing communication strategies to raise awareness and promote reporting channels. In response, the officer will support the development of victim assistance pathways, coordinate referrals for assistance in line with established mechanisms, and monitor risks for victims/survivors, ensuring their needs are met.
Work Experience
Requires professional experience in PSEAH, protection, gender-based violence, accountability to affected populations (AAP), gender mainstreaming, or humanitarian affairs. Experience in managing SEAH cases, strong UN/interagency coordination, training facilitation, risk assessment, proposal development, and mainstreaming protection principles is essential.
Skills
