The project provides community-based reintegration assistance, including Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), and strengthens the capacities of state and non-state actors. The position operates under the Chief of Mission and reports to the Reintegration Officer.

Job Purpose

The Reintegration Assistant will support the implementation and monitoring of activities for the STRONG project in The Gambia. This involves assisting with community-based reintegration initiatives and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services for returnees and community members. The role also contributes to strengthening the capacities of local stakeholders, particularly at the community level, to effectively support reintegration processes. By working in close coordination with the project team and other IOM Gambia thematic areas, the incumbent will help ensure that initiatives benefit returnees and their communities, fostering a supportive environment for their successful reintegration and contributing to the overall goals of the project and IOM's mandate.

The role involves maintaining project data and records, including data entry into MiMOSA and other databases. The Reintegration Assistant will help organize orientation sessions for returnees and community members to facilitate socio-economic reintegration. Additionally, the position will assist in organizing and delivering capacity-building trainings for beneficiaries and partners to enhance project sustainability. This includes organizing meetings and workshops, drafting Terms of Reference (TORs), agendas, and reports. Regular field visits will be conducted to track project progress, and the incumbent will assist in drafting weekly updates, quarterly/annual reports, and documenting best practices and lessons learned to improve intervention quality. Other related duties as assigned will also be performed.

Work Experience

Experience is required in supporting activities for migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups. Prior work in a multi-cultural setting with government authorities, international humanitarian organizations, UN agencies, or NGOs is advantageous. Experience supporting protection-related project implementation and case management activities, particularly in The Gambia, is also beneficial.

Skills

Proficiency in migration-related subject areas, knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming, and basic financial rules and regulations are required. Skills in providing protection assistance to vulnerable migrants and case management experience are essential. Excellent computer skills, particularly MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), and good reporting, communication, and organizational skills are necessary. Knowledge of MiMOSA is an advantage.
