National Project Officer - Emergency Response
Organizational Context
Established in 1951, IOM is the leading UN agency for migration, promoting humane and orderly migration globally. It works with partners to save lives, protect people on the move, and facilitate regular migration pathways. This role supports the Mission's surge staffing needs during emergencies and humanitarian response operations.
Job Purpose
This Call for Applications aims to establish a roster of qualified candidates for potential mobilization to support IOM's emergency response operations. While there is no confirmed start date, selected candidates will be expected to be available for future assignments based on operational requirements, scale of emergencies, and funding. Successful candidates will be prepared for prompt deployment and onboarding, contributing to IOM's mission of assisting governments and migrants during crises.
Responsibilities
Support the coordination and monitoring of project operations, administration, and finances according to IOM policies and donor requirements. Keep supervisors informed of project status, identifying gaps and proposing improvements. Participate in developing work plans, budgets, and M&E tools. Coordinate data collection, verification, and analysis, updating information management systems and social media. Ensure timely preparation and dissemination of project reports. Liaise with donors, partners, UN agencies, local authorities, and government counterparts. Contribute to planning and delivering capacity-building activities. Attend relevant coordination meetings and working groups. Provide technical guidance to project staff and undertake duty travel for project implementation and monitoring.
Work Experience
Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs is required. Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups is also necessary. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions in a multicultural setting is considered an advantage.
Skills
Extensive experience in humanitarian or emergency response operations. Ability to interact with national/regional government counterparts, donors, and inter-agency clusters. Experience with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and vulnerable groups. Prior experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions is advantageous.
