Senior Information Management Associate (Shelter and Settlements Cluster)
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a leading intergovernmental organization promoting humane and orderly migration. This role supports the Shelter and Settlements Cluster in Colombia, operating under the Chief of Mission and Emergency Coordinator. The position involves collaborating with partners to enhance information management for coordination, planning, and evidence-based decision-making.
Job Purpose
The Senior Information Management Associate will support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of information management activities for the Shelter and Settlements Cluster in Colombia. This role is crucial for ensuring that data collected, validated, analyzed, visualized, and disseminated effectively supports coordination efforts, operational planning, response monitoring, and evidence-based decision-making. By working closely with cluster partners, government counterparts, humanitarian actors, and relevant IOM units, the incumbent will contribute to the cluster's ability to respond efficiently and effectively to humanitarian needs, aligning with Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) guidelines for cluster coordination.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting the implementation and monitoring of the Shelter and Settlements Cluster's information management workplan and activities. This involves maintaining information management systems, databases, and repositories, ensuring data quality through compilation, cleaning, verification, and validation. The role requires preparing and updating routine information products such as dashboards, maps, and situation reports. It also entails supporting data collection and analysis for needs assessments, response monitoring, and identifying operational gaps. The associate will contribute to the Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan cycle, provide guidance to partners on reporting, and support the use of information systems and GIS mapping. Drafting technical inputs for project proposals and reports, organizing meetings and workshops, and participating in inter-cluster forums are also key duties. Additionally, the role involves supporting displacement tracking, providing guidance and training to staff and partners, and adhering to IOM data protection principles.
Work Experience
Required experience includes information management, data collection, cleaning, verification, validation, consolidation, analysis, and producing information products. Proficiency with databases, data visualization tools, reporting platforms, and spreadsheet applications is essential. Experience in producing dashboards, maps, factsheets, analytical reports, and presentations is necessary. Supporting humanitarian response, recovery operations, displacement tracking, or cluster coordination is also required. Experience with IOM, the UN system, or in complex humanitarian settings like Colombia is advantageous.
